Animal Healing and Gemstone Therapy- The Pendulum Method:

Pendulums come in all different types of materials, shapes and sizes. They are beautifully crafted from expensive gemstones, crystals, wood and metals to a piece of thread tied to a metal nut, washer, paper clip or your necklace with its pendant on it. The only requirement is that it feels comfortable in your hand and that the string be long enough to wrap around your finger at least once and that it is balanced and hangs even. Most will tell you to hold it between you thumb and forefinger letting it hang directly below – but this is awkward for me. It is most comfortable to me to wrap it at least once around my forefinger and then place my thumb over the top letting it hang down past my fingers. But either way is okay, just make sure that it hangs free and swings free. Once you select your pendulum you are ready to begin. Sit down and get comfortable. Your mind and body should feel relaxed with no stress. pendulum You can rest your elbow on a table in front of you allowing the pendulum to swing free - or you can hold your arm in a horizontal position again allowing your pendulum to swing freely. You do not have to be psychic to use a pendulum. It will guide itself. It is moved by either your thoughts or someone in spirit who works through you - generally your spirit guide. The first step is to get the feel of the pendulum and how it will move for you. Pendulums movements: - straight line - side to side or front and back - circles - clockwise or counterclockwise - elliptical motion Most questions asked when using a pendulum have Yes or No answers. You must determine the direction your pendulum will take for Yes and for No. Hold the pendulum in your hand. With the other hand - touch the point to steady its motion. It is up to you, but you may wish to say a short prayer of protection, surround yourself with white light, request help or guidance from your angels or guides, or just request that the information come only through your highest consciousness. I personally call on Archangel Michael for clarity. Keep your eyes on the point. Now address the pendulum and say, "Show me 'Yes'." It will soon swing in one direction - which could be side to side, back and forth, or circles. There is no right or wrong. I always get circles for yes and diagonal back and forth swings for no. Some people will get clockwise circles for yes and counter-clockwise for no. Do not try to predetermine what direction it will go just wait and let the pendulum show you which is correct for you. Now say, "Show me No." It should swing in the opposite direction. Be certain the pendulum is not being guided by the movement of your hand or fingers. Once you have determined the pattern for Yes and No - you are ready to begin. The larger the circle or the faster the movement of the pendulum, the stronger the energies, the more emphatic the response. You can use it anywhere. When you ask your questions you may want to record the answers. Now you are ready to begin to ask your questions. Make sure they are very specific and not general. Do not ask either or questions. Remember to only ask a question ONCE. If the motion of your pendulum increases - or the circles get large - the energy is increasing and you can expect change linked to the question you were asking. Pursue further questions to get additional information. We are going to keep it simple and ask the question directly from the animal. Place one hand on the animal and hold the pendulum out with your other hand. Set your intent as finding the stone that will best help this animal. Ask “Is (read name of stone) the perfect stone for (animal’s name) right now (rather than list health or emotional issue)?” Write down response. After you have gone through entire list, if you received a yes to more than one stone, then you ask “Does (animal’s name) need more than one stone at this time?” If you receive a yes, then ask how many, One? Two? etc until you receive a yes on the number then you will know how many you are looking for. Then just start the procedure over only you are asking for the perfect stones. If you receive a no, then the animal needs only one stone, and then you will go back over the stones again that you received a yes, asking for the perfect ONE for the animal now and go with the one that you receive the strongest reading. It sounds difficult, but with practice it gets easier. The main thing to remember is NOT to TRY to pick the stone, but let the pendulum do it for you and not to repeat it over and over until you dirty the waters or confuse the results. The main steps are: * Pick the pendulum * Clear yourself and surround yourself with light * Set your intent * Allow the answers to come without influence-write them down do not try to go from memory.

Animal Healing and Gemstone Therapy

This week we will be discussing Gemstone Therapy. It is interesting that in this wonderful world in which we live that we are provided with everything our bodies need to be healthy. Our body is actually composed of two parts: the visible physical body, and the invisible energy body. The visible physical body is that part of the human body that we see, touch, and are most acquainted with. Our aura is that invisible luminous energy body, which interpenetrates the visible physical body and extends beyond it. At this stage in our evolutionary state we require protein, minerals and vegetables, in other words food, to keep these bodies operating optimally, but they also must be fed energetically, which we generally receive through sunlight, but can be done through many different forms. The body is capable of healing itself at a certain rate depending upon the physical health of the individual. If a person has a wound or burn, the body will heal itself and recover within a few days to a week depending upon its physical condition. In other words, even if you do not apply antibiotic on the wound or burn, the body will repair or heal itself. For life to exist, the body must have prana, chi, ki or life energy. The healing process can be accelerated by increasing life energy on the affected part(s) and on the entire body. When energy is applied to the affected part of the body the rate of recovery or healing, increases tremendously. What we call miraculous healing is nothing more than increasing the rate of self-recovery of the body. There is nothing supernatural or paranormal about energy healing. It is simply based on natural laws that most people are not aware of. The older we get and the more our minds become involved in the issues, the more difficult it seems for us to accept the energy healing work, but for children and animals, it works almost instantaneously. Gemstone therapy is a form of alternative medicine based the idea that gemstones carry certain properties or vibrations that can be beneficial to the body in varying ways. Some stones may help alleviate a physical ailment, but more commonly, stones are used to help with emotional issues. There are some very simple crystal healing techniques that can be used to help your pet or animal friend to be more comfortable during times of stress or illness. Where a human will relate to and embrace their pain, an animal with react to it. Crystals (although some other stones will also) amplify emotion, while some other stones will dissipate or sedate. You can place stones underneath your pet bed or pillow being cautious of sharp edges and position the stones to be comfortable and safe for your pet. Make sure the stones cannot be reached and eaten or chewed by your pet. If the crystal energy is too intense, your pet will be agitated and may not want to rest in their bed. If your pet likes the crystals, you will see an improvement in their health within a few days. Hold the crystal in your hand, and starting a few inches away from the affected part or injured area, rotate the crystal clock-wise. Take your time; go slow, breathe gently and evenly. Animals express their emotions with movement, so watch if your pet wants more or tries to move away. Get a small pouch that can attach to a collar and place up to three crystals inside. If you put too many crystals in, your pet may feel disoriented. Be careful that the pouch does not interfere with movement or cause it to be caught on anything. Warm up crystals in the sun before your healing session. The sun gives masculine, active yang energy to the crystals. Apply the warm crystals to injured areas. If you are using an ice bag to reduce swellings, try a few tumbled Smoky Quartz with the ice to help unblock over-active or inflamed areas. Make sure they are natural Smoky Quartz and are not radiated as are sold in so many stores today. Add Rose Quartz (for calming love) or Amethyst (to raise the vibratory rate and keep off fleas and ticks) to your pet’s water bowl or bucket. Make sure the bowl is not plastic, but is glass, ceramic or stainless. The crystal will leave its energy signature in the water. You can also drop a crystal into a glass bottle, fill it with sterile water and leave it in the sun and moon light for 24 hours and add this to the animal's water. Try this and see how the water feels on you tongue. The healing properties of stones and crystals have been well documented throughout history and many ancient cultures and civilizations built sacred sites and structures within powerful grid patterns creating healing temples. Often entire cities were constructed on grid lines which lined up with certain energy fields and power spots of the Earth, and became schools of instruction teaching how to utilize the energy of the stones and crystals as well as teach of technological advances throughout the ages. Crystal and stone layouts may be placed on or around an animal that is recuperating or is in recovery as long as the animal is not mobile. Stones may be sewn into a blanket and placed into the animal’s bedding to energize and balance certain area of the body as well as to discharge toxic and stressful energies. When an animal is mobile it is best to place the stone(s) directly on the animal’s collar, preferably so that it is in or near the heart center (more on this next month). The stones have their own individual energy patterns and can be used for that reason or clear quartz crystal may be programmed for a particular intent. It is generally suggested that you attach the stones to the animal’s collar so it hangs in the heart chakra area. Wednesday we will be discussing stone properties.

Father's Day Peom

My Dad's Hands Bedtime came, we were settling down, I was holding one of my lads. As I grasped him so tight, I saw a strange sight: My hands. . .they looked like my dad's! I remember them well, those old gnarled hooks, there was always a cracked nail or two. And thanks to a hammer that strayed from its mark, his thumb was a beautiful blue! They were rough, I remember, incredibly tough, as strong as a carpenter's vice. But holding a scared little boy at night, they seemed to me awfully nice! The sight of those hands - how impressive it was in the eyes of his little boy. Other dads' hands were cleaner, it seemed (the effects of their office employ). I gave little thought in my formative years of the reason for Dad's raspy mitts: The love in the toil, the dirt and the oil, rusty plumbing that gave those hands fits! Thinking back, misty-eyed, and thinking ahead, when one day my time is done. The torch of love in my own wrinkled hands will pass on to the hands of my son. I don't mind the bruises, the scars here and there or the hammer that just seemed to slip. I want most of all when my son takes my hand, to feel that love lies in the grip. David Kettler

Chelsea's Story

I thought I would end the week, with a special Rescue Story, This is the story of Chelesa, She was Judi's Yorkshire Terrier and my daughter's first doggie love. It is a special story to me and one that I love. I hope that you enjoy it to. Now on to Chelsea's Story Chelsea, a 2.7 lb female Yorkshire Terrier, first came into my life in October 2002, one month after her 10th birthday. Not a lot is known about her life prior to that date as she never really liked to talk about it. When asked she would sweetly say “If I tell you, it will make you cry.” From what I understand Chelsea lived the first 10 years of her life with two black cats in an apartment in NY City with a lady who was Bi-polar. For reasons known only to her, she decided to sell all her belongings and take the animals and move to Florida. The man she paid to take them to Florida took the money and dumped them in a crack house in Washington, D.C. where they were held captive for a month. She escaped and finally made it to Florida where she was hospitalized (on suicide watch) but begged them to please rescue the animals. This went back and forth across the internet rescue groups with no one willing to go into this area to rescue these animals. There was one rescuer in Griffin, GA who had a friend whose husband was a cop in Washington D.C. and all agreed to help if she received the animals and the owner relinquished all claims. The crack house was found, finally the animals were located in terrible shape in a cardboard box, up to their bellies in feces, almost dead. Little Chelsea only weighed 1.5 lbs and her organs were already shutting down. Through great care she recovered and eventually made it to Griffin where later she was moved through 4 foster homes. But because she had incontinence problems, was old, developing cataracts, and was pretty much a couch potato, no one wanted her. This is where I came in. I tend to inherit the old ladies that no one wants and thus we took Chelsea. The two black cats remained in Griffin where one later died of old age and the other still loves with her rescuer..

sdaChelsea stood barely 6" high

The moment she entered the house it took her about 5 minutes to find the kitchen and the food bowl. She then located the nearest pillows and made herself at home. For the first six months she lived in her own little world. She often had nightmares or was terrified when strangers entered the house. The first night I made her a bed in the corner of our room and around 2:00 a.m. I heard the most horrible sound like a cat screaming in pain. I pulled my fingernails and toenails out of the ceiling, jumped out of bed, flipped on the light and there stood Chelsea looking up at me. I asked “Was that you?” and she replied “Yes-may I have a drink, please?” Chelsea never barked, but she could sure make cat sounds! The vet discovered that while in the crack house they apparently had blown cocaine up her little nose and she was drug addicted. It took several months for her to detoxify. My vet did not think she would live for more than six months. She would wake up around 7:30 a.m. and go out to potty, then normally it was back to bed until I would get her up at 11:00 a.m. then back to bed until around 2:00 p.m. and then it was eat until around 5:00 p.m. when she would take a nap until 7:00 p.m. then eat until around 10:00 p.m. and then it was off to bed. During that first six months we changed the food 3 times trying to find food that she could eat. Chelsea ate with the side of her mouth, picking the food up with her lips, throwing it up toward the back of her throat, actually catching 1 out of 5 pieces, eating it and then starting over. Needless to say the kitchen floor received most of her efforts. das Chelsea's food bowls are 3" in diameter. When I asked her why she ate that way she responded in her Chelsea way “That’s the way I eat!” So after a trip to the chiropractor’s we found that Chelsea had obviously been hit more than once and that her atlas was so far out that she could not straighten her head. Several treatments later she ate with the front of her mouth, but never stopped tossing the food. Although my other two dogs tried to make friends with her, she was a loner. When you let her out to go potty she walked down the steps, down the concrete driveway and then directly out into the asphalt street - if you did not stop her. She was obviously used to going down steps, down a sidewalk and doing her business on an asphalt parking lot. More than once she got lost and would end up at the neighbor’s house or across the street. We tried to watch her every minute, but she was quick and quiet and the color of the winter grass and brown leaves. I will never forget the night that she somehow got out without anyone seeing her slip through the door and was gone for over an hour before we knew she was not in the house and we searched from 7:30 p.m. until 10:45 p.m. before we found her. There was a cold front coming in and the temperature dropped from in the 70’s to in the 30’s during that time period. I found that you cannot find any animal when you are hysterical yourself. In our neighborhood our lots are around an acre each and the road curves with storm drains with openings large enough for a 10 lb dog to easily walk into. If she had stayed on the main road she would have ended up on a horribly busy road. My conversation (which took place around 10 pm when I was too tired to be still be hysterical) with her went something like this “Chelsea where are you” “ Chelsea lost” “What are you doing?” “Chelsea just walking and walking” “ What do you see?” “ Houses” “ Are you okay?” “ Chelsea cold” At least I knew she was still alive and still in the neighborhood. When we finally found her, she had been walking the entire time and had walked the pads off her feet which were bloody. It was rare if Chelsea ever left the yard again after that. She refused to leave the porch unless you sat on there while she went into the yard and if the door blew shut she would freak and tear back to the porch. I never forgave myself for that terrible night. A dear friend of mine had a little four pound Yorkie named Buddy, whom she had rescued from a puppy mill, who stayed with us whenever they traveled. The other dogs (2 larger Yorkies-Buddy's mate and son and a Chihuahua) stayed with the house sitter but she was always afraid for Buddy since he was so tiny. So Buddy came to stay with us and he loved my guys. About six months after Chelsea had come, Buddy came to stay for a week and it was great seeing them meet for the first time as neither had ever seen another Yorkie their size. They stood almost the same height; Buddy had shorter legs, bigger body and outweighed her. They stood nose to nose and the following conversation took place. “Hi, my name’s Buddy, who are you?” “I’m Chelsea and I’m a cat.” (It had never crossed our minds that she did not know she was a dog – having been raised with cats) “You can’t be, you look like me and I’m a dog” said Buddy. The argument proceeded for several minutes and then it just stopped. I never knew if they just agreed to disagree or decided they could never change the other’s mind, but Chelsea went off to her bed as usual, but Buddy would have none of that. He was in love and he stayed with her constantly. She rolled her little lip, hissed, fussed and fumed, but he did not care. That week Buddy brought Chelsea back into the world and for the first time we met the real Chelsea. The week after Buddy went home, each evening at exactly 8:30 p.m. Chelsea would come into the living room and jump up and down in front of me making these funny little barking attempts while saying “Fix me, fix me” and then run to the kitchen with her little stub of a tail straight up and her little bottom just bouncing. I did not even know she had a tail before that as it was always tucked in. I would go to the kitchen and she would be in front of the stove again saying “Fix me, fix me.” The first night I cooked her some hamburger and she ate it. The next night she refused the hamburger, but ate some chopped up pork chop. Each night she refused what she had the previous night and wanted something new. After 6 nights of this I went onto one of the communications lists and requested that someone PLEASE converse with Chelsea and find out what I was missing. Well typical as it is a beginner as well as professional lists, I got responses like she had lost her favorite toy (Chelsea never played with toys), she wanted her bone (never chews on bones – not enough teeth) and then finally someone contacted me off-list and said she had 5 Yorkies and “Congratulations – you have a perfectly normal Yorkie and this is called Yorkie Games!” She said they will do this as long as you will play. That if I did not want to play to tell her that her food is I the kitchen and to go eat. That it might take a couple of nights, but she would give up – and low and behold it worked!

das

After that, we had a different dog in the house. Chelsea demanded her own! She loved to eat and got all the way up to 3.1 lbs! She loved to travel and go for long walks. Liked to be cooked for but was happy with really good canned food. Everything was a new experience and she was a wonderful traveler. She would help me with workshops and was a great communicator. I learned a tremendous amount from her. Toby is a little 4 lb male Maltese who had never marked in the house. When he was 4 a client brought a little dog by for me to see how well he was doing since we had managed to get him to stop biting and had saved him from being put down. He had been a rescue and she had decided to adopt him and she wanted me to meet him in person after having conversed with him long distance. The first thing he did was hike his leg on the couch. Although I cleaned the area thoroughly it set off Toby and from that day forward he marked everything!!! His favorite was the wooden table by the front door, plastic bags, cardboard boxes and a basket that sat in front of the fireplace hearth that was made like a little bear with the body out the back and the feet out the front. One day when I was cleaning and spraying Febreeze I looked back and he was following me dribbling on everything, when I asked what he thought he was doing he informed me “That stuff stinks!”. “Well, do you think you smell better than this does” I asked. “Absolutely” he stated. “Well if I catch you peeing in the house one more time I am going to tie it in a knot in it and you will never be able to pee again!” His eyes got big as circles and I thought I had finally made an impression. I have not used Febreeze since but I should not have threatened him as he became real sneaky-and I have not ever CAUGHT him again, but he is still marking! He can come in the room with you, stand right beside you, wonder back ut of the room and you look down and he has peed! Then the girls decided it was their job to tell on him when they found where he had peed. One day Chelsea came running into the kitchen yelling “Momma, Toby peed, Toby peed.” I asked her where and she immediately ran to the front door to show me. When I got there and found the spot it was a little circle about the size of a nickel. I said “Excuse me Chelsea, but that looks like a Chelsea spot to me.” “Huh-uh, Toby peed, Toby peed” she said as she took off to the other room laughing as she went. She had a delightful sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. The only way she ever learned to play was if we would clap our hands and chase her through the house and she would run in front us laughing. Her favorite thing to do was lay on my lap while I was at the computer. During my workshops I would have the participants converse with my guys and have them ask Chelsea about her life in hopes that she would one day enlighten us about her life before she came to live here. The lady she was conversing with said she thought Chelsea must have been a cat in her previous life because she told her she used to be a cat, but now she was a dog. I told her no, that Chelsea was talking about this life as she thought she was a cat before she came to live with use, but now she she knows she is a dog. One day while playing the piano and singing I heard this horrible noise like a dog in excruciating pain and I looked down and Chelsea was between my feet with her head thrown back howling loudly. I immediately apologize "Oh Baby, I'm sorry, was I hurting your ears?" When indignantly she answered "I's singin'!" and from the day on she would always join me at the piano and sing, but only when I sang. If I just played she totally ignored me. But no matter when I sang, she would throw back her heard and sing at the top of her lungs. Chelsea never got over her incontinence problems and with age it got much worse. When she was 12 the cataract in one eye became so bad that the eye went white and she lost all vision in it. One day I had taken her out in the front yard to potty (she could not longer maneuver the steps to the deck in the back yard) and I got sidetracked pulling weeds in the flower garden when I suddenly became aware-no Chelsea. I started calling her and heading toward the street when I looked up the street and saw Chelsea being guided back down the street by Toby. He was gently pushing her out of the street while steering her towards the driveway and home. From that day on he assigned himself the job of Chelsea’s protector and it was at that time that I realized that Chelsea could no longer see out of her good eye either at least not in direct sunlight. Over the following month she lost the ability to see period. She would often get up during the night and get lost, would get in the wrong room or upstairs and not know where she was, but Toby was always right there to make sure she was alright. Each morning and several times a day he would poke her gently with his nose to wake her up and make sure that she moved and would get up to go outside. In September 2004 the month of her 13th birthday, Chelsea began to loose weight and although she was at the vets many times and we tried several things, she continued to go down hill. Then in November I noticed that she had a loose tooth which of course had to be removed. The vet twilighted her to remove the tooth, but found that her jaw bone was infected and had to put her out to scrape it and remove the other affected teeth. She recovered well, but 3 days later had a stroke which left the right side of her mouth paralyzed and she could not eat. Her weight had dropped to 1.7 lbs. We started syringe feeding her and she fought her way back. The vet told me to make sure she took at least four 12cc syringes each day – well she took 8! I could not fill her up. She ate 6 times a day and would jump up and down and demand to be fed. Our Chelsea was back with a vengeance! I kept telling her that if she wanted to live to be twenty, I would continue to feed her that way, it was fine with me. In February, when our grandbaby was so ill and in the hospital having surgery twice, and then we were all so ill with that horrible bacterial infection, Chelsea had another stroke. Again she recovered, but this time it left her with what acted like severe arthritis. Her hips were protruding and she was in pain. I did everything I could, energy work, vitamins, hormones, herbs, I even changed her to baby food to get her to eat- all hid in those syringes, but she continued to go down hill. I even tried Remedyl – I was desperate. The end of April we were planning our bi-annual vacation to the North Carolina mountains and Chelsea loved the mountains. I knew that her time was drawing near, but I refused to admit it. She was happy about going and she even tried to go for walks the first few days, but as the week went on, it was obvious that Chelsea was leaving. On May 1, Chelsea had her third her stroke and this time lost control and wet her bed. She told me it was time and I was to let her go only giving her light and love to help with her crossing, but not to try and save her. Over the next couple of days she lost control of other body functions, but being the grand old lady that she was she wanted to go at home. We returned home on May 3 and Chelsea left this world quietly and with dignity at 9:00 a.m. on May 4, 2005. Many of you conversed with her during workshops and know what a great sense of humor she had/has. Always in control she left this world in total control of the situation. She was the absolute delight of my grandbaby who loved her dearly.

Toby looks blind in the above picture but it is actually just light reflection.

He has had great difficulty with her passing as he feels that he somehow failed her and it has taken lots of energy work and Bach Rescue Remedy to help him release her and know that he did his job well and he stayed with her until the very end, still gently prodding her trying to wake her up. He cried for days because we put her in a box. Buddy, who was accidentally stepped on and killed several years ago, was here to get her and take her across the bridge. In case you are wondering – no animal ever crosses alone! There is always at least one animal there to meet and greet and often a human loved one also. In Chelsea case both Buddy, whom she loved, and Rags (who belonged to a dear friend in Atlanta), who now works in that capacity, were with Chelsea for at least 3 days prior to her crossing. Buddy took Chelsea by his Momma's to show her that Chelsea was with him and she knew before I ever called her to tell her that Chelsea had passed. If any of you would like to converse with her, please do so and if you would, I would so love to have you share those communications with me. And a special thank you to Sandy Roberts in Griffin, Ga for bringing this special little girl into our lives. This is the third little old lady that we have adopted and the other two we managed to keep for 4 years, little Chelsea managed 3 years 8 months.

A Rescue Story

My name is Carol, and I am a volunteer for Small Dog Rescue. I want to tell you about little Embry Riddle. Embry was brought to us from a severe neglect situation. Some folks would call it abuse, but that’s not the important part of my story. Embry was kept alone for an extended period of time with very limited food and water. He was left to stand in his own waste, and I would bet that he was so hungry that he was forced to eat the same. When Embry came to us he weighed 6.4 pounds, but after 9 days of eating 7-8 meals a day he weighed 11.8 pounds, so in less than 2 weeks he almost doubled his body weight. Can you imagine if you were so malnourished that you needed to double your body weight? Well, as this picture shows you, Embry was close to his body shutting down.
(This is the best picture that she had - sorry it is so small but you get the idea)

Elizabeth is a stay at home mom and another volunteer of Small Dog Rescue, and she accepted the task of providing nutritious meals for Embry. Since his body was so malnourished, she needed to feed him high quality, low fat food, but in smaller portions with higher frequencies. Hence, she fed him 7-8 meals a day, but small portions until his body could regain strength. This was not an easy task since Embry’s body did have quite a bit of gastric upset as it became able to digest food again. In fact Embry needed fluids after coming to us because his digestive system was under distress and he became dehydrated. Elizabeth gave not only time and food to Embry, but also the thing that those of us at Small Dog Rescue know makes all the difference, she gave him love.

I first saw Embry a week after Elizabeth began caring for him, and I could easily wrap my hand around his waist it was so small. Elizabeth asked me to come by to trim the fur off the bottoms of his legs. You see he was shaved before he was sent to us, but the people who shaved him neglected to trim the bottoms of his legs. You would think a dog that had been treated in such a manner would not really care for the human race, but Embry never harbored any of those thoughts. He knew that he had been without food and love for a long time, and he craved them both. He would gulp his food, and then when he finished, he could not stop kissing and trying to get in your arms. The only difficult part in trimming his legs was trying to see around his head which was busy trying to lick my face. He was and still is just extremely lovable. I shaved Embry’s legs, and picked up his feet to shave the bottoms of them. The skin there was so red and inflamed that it had to be painful, but Embry never showed any signs of being in pain, he was too busy looking for the love to feel the pain. One of his paws has a large dent in it which was probably caused by standing in urine and feces. His nails were stained with urine, and they looked so cracked and brittle that I refused to trim them for fear they would break and bleed. Embry never seemed to notice any of this.

Thru all this Embry never lost his faith in human kindness. His strength, joy and love are now shared with his adopted family. Embry understood that it’s the contrasts in life that help us find the things we like and dislike. He went for a long time without the essentials, and he would gulp food and water, but he also wanted love and joy too. Some humans in the same situation would have been disheartened with other humans, but not Embry, he knew what he liked, and he learned from his dire circumstances to appreciate his newly found blessings all the more. One of the joys of rescue is in finding the Embry’s and watching them fill their lives with joy, love and happiness. I will always continue to learn from these wonderful souls, and accept the joy they bring me.

From a Rescuers Point of View

Jean Strein
Adoption Counselor & Volunteer
Canine Shelter Rescue
Belvedere, SC

While visiting a shelter, I witnessed a most horrific incident. A pickup truck drove up with a huge, soft beige Labrador standing in the truck bed. With his tail wagging and a panting smile on his face, the dog watched the young man go inside the office. The next thing I saw was this same young man driving this same pickup truck into the driveway marked “Intake.” That big, lovely dog was being dropped off! I could not believe it. It took 3 grown male staff workers to get the dog into the cell. Then I saw his eyes. The once soft, round, smiling eyes were now wide with fear and disbelief. I felt my heart was about to burst. How in the world could that young man do this? Judging by the happy appearance of the lab, the dog had enjoyed rides in this truck many times before today. How did he know that this ride would be his last in this truck with this young man? What did he think when he was dragged into the shelter by strangers? How did he feel when he heard the truck drive off without him? The howls of that dog haunted me for days.

In another shelter several months later, two miniature poodles were surrendered by their owner. These two litter mates had been raised by this couple in the same home since puppy hood. They were now 10 years old. The wife had died and the husband was being “sent” to live with the children, who did not want the dogs. This elderly gentleman had lost his wife, his home, and now his beloved dogs. Instead of their familiar bed, toys, and human companions; these dogs were now in a shelter cell with concrete floors and wire walls amid the howling and barking of the other dogs.

A tired young mother called a rescue volunteer with a special request for a special dog for a very special little girl. This little girl, with a severe birth defect and a short life prognosis, was often isolated by her disabilities from anyone other than her mother. The one other source that seemed to stimulate this little girl was a black cocker spaniel which belonged to a neighbor. Unfortunately, the cocker did not understand the child’s strange noises and movements and would recoil in fear. When the mother told the child’s physician about her reaction to the dog, the doctor was quick to recommend getting a dog as a therapy companion. That very same day, one of our volunteers found an adorable little terrier mix in a shelter. The dog, surrendered by her owner, was already house trained, spayed, and up-to-date on all shots. In other words, she was ready to go to a new home. While discussing a possible name for the little black terrier, one volunteer said she was as sweet as a “Baby.” When Baby was suggested as a possibility dog companion for the little special needs child, the mother wept. She said, “The only word my daughter can say is ‘Baby’!” The last picture I saw of this little girl was with her hair tied up holding her “Baby” with her ears tied up. Both had spaghetti sauce on their faces.

In 2004, 76 % of all animals admitted to animal shelters were destroyed. In my hometown, that represents 8,967 dogs and cats killed in one year; more than 700 per month; or 25 every day! As in the examples above, each dog or cat in a shelter represents an opportunity to experience unconditional love. We, as humans, are not capable of giving each other this gift. Every time a cat or dog is euthanized in a shelter, we kill an opportunity to embrace that gift. There is enough unconditional love in one shelter to change the entire world!

I volunteer with a rescue which targets dogs and cats in shelters. We successfully place about 100 pets a month. For every one we take out of the shelter, there are hundreds more that will die that very day in order to make room for yet more dogs and cats incoming! If you are reading this, you most likely love animals and feel just as overwhelmed with the number of homeless animals as we do. How do we raise awareness of others to the cause of homeless animals?

Talk to everyone you can about pets and how special they are. Speak up and out on animal abuse or neglect. Volunteer with a rescue or shelter in your area. No matter what you think you can’t do, you will find that there will be any number of things you can do! Donate to animal groups. Dry and canned food, beds, toys, leashes, food dishes, cat litter, grooming supplies, and money are all needed and welcomed. Last, but certainly not least, be quick to share with other humans what your pets so freely give to you: love, compassion, and tolerance.

7 Steps to Animal Communication

1. Find you still point 2. Open your heart 3. Understand the lines of Communication 4. Experiment with Connection Techniques 5. Learn to focus 6. Recognize your style of connection 7. Exercise your telepathic muscle Step 1- Find your still point This is the most critical step in learning to communicate with animals. You must learn to relax both your mind and body. You need to be able to shut down all your thoughts and relax. When you first start to do this it will not feel right, you will feel that you need to get up and do something anything. This feeling will go away with time, and it will take time to work with. It will come naturally, but it does take time and practice. Below is a sample of one type of mediation: Close your eyes and place your feet flat on the floor. Take a few deep breaths. With each breath, scan your body for any tension, you are holding. Breathe into those areas one by one, and on each exhale allow all of that tension to be released Practice this for about 5 mins a day this is just step one. But this will get you use to shutting down your mind for a few minutes. Don’t worry if at first you only do it for a few seconds or a few minutes, you will be able to shut everything down with a little practice. Step 2- Open your Heart Once you find you still point, then you are ready to open practice opening you heart through deep mediation. Use any type of meditation that works for you. Several different types of deep mediation are out there. To get some examples of mediation and the different types try these sites http://1stholistic.com/meditation/hol_meditation.htm http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/2-26-2006-89868.asp Step 3- Understand the lines of Communication There are several different types of Communication when you are talking with Animals 1. Thoughts- you will receive thoughts from the animal. Have you ever knew that you needed to let you dog out or that your cat was hungry even though they did not show any physical signs of these. 2. Emotions- You animals will show you how they feel, like when they are happy to see you or sad that you are leaving them. 3. Images and Pictures-They will send pictures to you. If they want you take them for a walk, and then they will send you a picture of the two you taking a walk. 4. Physical Sensations- They send physical Sensations to you. They will send you taste of what that dead mouse tasted like or what laying in Water will feel like. 5. Spiritual- They will send you spiritual and profound messages. They will share lessons that they have learned. Step 4- Experiment with Connections Techniques - You need to experiment with the best techniques for your communication skills. Is having the animal right there or can you do it from a distance. Try different type of Mediation, and if one works better for you then another. Step 5- Learn to Focus -When you are practicing any Communication Skills have a light heart about it. The harder you try the harder it will be. Just know that you have the skills to do this you just have to trust in yourself. Step 6- Recognizing you Connection Style - When you practice for the first time, was it easier to send pictures or feelings. - Was easier to send thought and receive thoughts back or was easier to send a picture and have one returned. - Your connection style will be the easiest way for you send and receive information from the animal. You may have one that is easier in sending and one way that is easier in receiving or they may be same. Just remember that Animal Communication is not an Exact Science and that you are interpreting what the animal is trying to say to you. You may make a mistake but don’t you sometimes make mistakes when you talk to people. It’s the same thing when you are talking to animals. You can do it all you have to do is trust in yourself and know that you can do it. Below are some books that can help and will get more in depth. Check out our Workbook: Learning to Listen

Just this Morning

*Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play. *Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together. *Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles. *Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck and I will buy you one if he comes by. *Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going t o be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned. *Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them. *Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys. *Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you. *Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry. *Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars. *Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows. *Just for this evening when n I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. *I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore. *And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask Him for nothing, except one more day.............

Animal Communication Part II

In my workshops we do lots of exercises, to train your mind muscle to recognize the levels of the mind (brainwaves-sub-conscious mind) instantly rather than having to “go” somewhere and then return with the information. When you first started walking, you fell often because your leg muscles were not developed and trained to know how to walk. Soon and with lots of practice, it became natural. The same thing is true when you develop your communication muscle. Start with becoming quiet, in receptive mode at least once a day and preferably the same time each day (only in the beginning). You may even wish to use the same chair. At first it may be very difficult to quiet the mind. You will notice every itch, ache and twitching part of your body. Your mind will proceed to remind you of everything you SHOULD be doing. But after a few days (weeks, months?!?) it will become natural and you will find that you even look forward to those quiet times and deal with the other times much better after you participate in this form of meditation. The moment that you enter the room, sit in the chair, turn on the music – whatever you do, the mind muscle will remember and immediately move you into the mode. Personally I work in “dual” awareness. My conscious mind is conversing with the owner, while my sub-conscious is connected directly to the animal. Thus I can converse with the animals as well as the owner in “real time”. I know many communicators that have you call them in the morning with your list of up to 10 questions. They then “trance” and communicate with said animal, then you call back at your specified time, and they read you their answers. The problem with this is that you cannot request clarification on any of the answers and you only receive information on one animal. When I was a child I spent many hours outside and communicated with all the animals on our place. It was so natural that I did not even think about it, it was just a way of life. If an animal was injured, I seem to “know” what to do – the thought just appeared in my mind. I do not remember ever using the term “The dog just said _ _ _” It was always just a knowing, but as I grew up and the world took over with education, marriage, children, etc., I lost all contact in that way with the animals. After becoming thoroughly disgusted with mainline medical, I left the field of nursing and I became a work-shop-a-holic. I became certified in every alternative modality that I could find. I even developed and taught (still do) my techniques which I called Natural Therapeutic Balancing. After moving to SC in 1986, I did critical care energy work at a chiropractor’s office on patient’s that were so tense they could not tolerate the chiropractor’s physical manipulation. After just a few minutes of energy work, they could not only accept the manipulations, but their adjustments held much longer. I enjoyed working on humans, but began to modify the NTB course to and NTBA course. I left the corporate world in 1997 and in July 1999 I became a partner in a metaphysical bookstore in Augusta, GA., where I did hypnosis and various types of energy work. During this time period Reiki had come back into the energy work scene as well as Healing Touch and there seemed to be an abundance of people working on humans. I started doing energy healing work on animals at the store. I found that while working on the animals, I would be in deep conversations with them, although I might not be consciously aware of it until an owner would comment about it. In October 2000 the building sold and we lost our lease, but by the time we closed the store in January 2001, the majority of my clients were animals-the 4-legged kind. The more I worked with the animals the more I heard them. Let me clarify that statement, the animals would drop a complete thought form into my head and it was then up to me to decipher their meaning. The animals were and still are more than willing to correct me if I get it wrong. Not being visual (when I close my eyes I see black), I always felt that I missed out on something this time around. I have taken many classes and workshops on being visual, but found that they were all taught by people who were already visual. I can easily see auras, but that is with my eyes open. I wanted those movies like my son sees inside my head when I closed my eyes. Then one day I asked a dog to show me what he was talking about and I got a 3 dimensional video as if I were inside the dog. I knew without a doubt that it was not from me, as I had created my own way of being visual and that was to create a picture (2 dimensional) of said object, after the fact. Once my brain/muscle understood this technique, I was able to utilize it every time I conversed with an animal and in a very short period of time, I found that my medical intuitive skills were developing right along with it. While I was inside the animal, I felt what it was feeling; only I felt it in my body. I never diagnose or prescribe, but I can tell the owner what I am feeling and where so they can make and informed decision as to whether the animals needs a vet, a chiropractor, an herbalist, a homeopathic, a massage therapist, or an acupuncturist among others. As I gave my brain muscle a regular workout in the area, it soon became second nature to communicate in this way. I took every workshop in animal communication that I could find. I studied with Kate Riley, Amelia Kinkade, Penelope Smith, Patty Summers, Marta Williams, Diane Samsel and Danielle Sender. I bought ever book out there and all the videos and autos I could find. I would have to say that I got a whole lot more out of the workshops, but mainly it was just plain old everyday practice. Now most of these will tell you that the best way to practice is to work with your own animals. Either mine are not normal (or that could be a whole newsletter by itself) or this is actually the most frustrating way to train. My animals felt that it was beneath them and a total waste of their time to validate my skills. You know the exercises I am talking about – “sit quietly and send your dog an image of their leash and wait for them to come for you to take them for a walk. Image the animal receiving treats.” Well if you are NOT visual, you are already in trouble and if your animals do not want to play these games, you are in double trouble. Find a friend with animals that are willing to work with you or request that one of your own be willing to work with you in spite of their lack of need to validate you. Generally horses are the most willing and the best communicators – they just LOVE to talk. Work on your questions. Rather than asking “What color is your food bowl?” ask “What is your favorite food? Could you show it to me in your food bowl?” You just received at least twice the amount of information. Try NOT to ask “yes” or “no” questions. Respect the animal and treat them and their time as you would any friend. Anytime I am giving a workshop I always tell my guys and request that they be willing to converse and help the attendees to learn how to communicate so they can help their own animals. I have never had one of them refuse, but one day I forgot. I was mentoring a young lady who was trying to become a professional and her question was “Since I have only one telephone line, should I work strictly through emails?” To demonstrate how much more information you will receive when linked to the owner directly, I sent her 10 questions to ask my little 2.7 lb., 13 yr old, rescued Yorkshire Terrier. After emailing me the responses (which were all 1 liners), I had her call me and I would ask the exact same questions while she was on the phone. As I was asking the first question, Chelsea came tearing up the stairs with eyes wild yelling “MOMMA, SOMEBODY”S TALKING TO ME!” I apologized profusely and explain what I was doing and would she please go a head and communicate with Gail. The difference in the connection and Chelsea’s willingness to participate made a believer out of Gail; the telephone makes a connection that is unbelievable stronger than email. Chelsea Byers I personally prefer to converse with animals via the phone or in person with the owner using only pictures (which with a good description I do not need the pictures), than having the animal present. It is not uncommon for the animal to come get on my lap (not the horses thank God) while I am speaking with them, and many go to sleep. The problem is with me! I have to close my eyes to block out the visual image of them, or my mind becomes so involved with their physical, their feelings, pain, problems, etc. that I have a terrible time with the communication. I have not trained my mind muscle to work this way comfortably. I would highly recommend that you attend a workshop if there is one in your area, or if it is financially feasible. Make sure that the workshop is kept to a small number and that the instructor gives lots of feedback. (I keep my workshops to no more than 20 attendees) If this is not possible, try mentoring with a professional. Read the books, there are several that are outstanding – I think I may do some personal reviews on them next month. Again, if it is still not feasible then sign up for the communication lists on Yahoo. There are several of which I belong and would not hesitate to recommend. Yes these are different groups – note the capitalization. These consist of rank beginners as well as many professionals that are more than willing to help the newbies. One of these even has a practice group just for beginners. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/animalcommunication/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AnimalCommunications/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AnimalSpirit/ Newsletter is copyrighted and no part may be copied or reprinted without express permission.

Animal Communication-How Do I begin?

Although we may not all be born with the use of our five physical senses, we are all born with the natural ability to use our five non-physical senses or what is commonly know as our Sixth sense. In fact we use them openly until somewhere between the ages of 2 and 5. It is about this time that we start listening to some well-meaning adult who informs us that we are making it all up. That the things we see are only in our imagination or worse that we are making up stories or lying, so we shut that ability down. Dr. Gratis of Grovetown, GA., states if you want to know what is wrong with your animal or what your animal is thinking, ask your 3-yr old. Dr. Gratis was way before his time and now at 90+ years he still has an active practice, and was the very first homeopathic vet in the Augusta area. Often these abilities are lumped together and called our “sixth sense” or extrasensory perception. People who have extrasensory perception are said to be psychic. It is commonly called ESP, a term coined by J.B. Rhine, who began investigating the phenomenon at Duke University in 1927. ESP refers to telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and in recent years, remote viewing and clairaudience. The existence of ESP and other paranormal powers such as telekinesis are disputed, though systematic experimental research on these subjects, known collectively as psi, has been ongoing for over a century in parapsychology. Clairaudience—the ability to “hear” (clear hearing) voices, music and other sounds that do not have a physical source. Actually, it is the ability to “hear” vibrations that are outside the range of the human physical ears. Clairaudient messages generally come in the form of thoughts that can be very hard to distinguish from our own inner thought process. Although, some clairaudients are able to literally hear voices of those on the "other side" (deceased people), our guardian angels or spirit guides, our higher selves, or God/dess. This can also include hearing voices/music/sounds that are actually echoes of the past - this happens a lot in older buildings and haunted areas (residual haunting). The psychic reception areas for this sense are on each side of the head, just above the ears. The word Clairaudience literally means “Clear Hearing”. Such as hearing a human or non-human animal, fish, fowl, or reptile’s thought within your own mind, but not coming from your mind. Often we are awakened from a deep sleep hearing someone call our name, but no one is there (physically anyway). Some people (such as great artists) hear music and they just copy it down. It is directly connected to the throat/ears chakra. Personally, I can only remember twice that I have actually “heard” voices outside of my head and in both instances, the voice came from behind me on the right. The first time was many years ago when my daughter was 15 and we were going through some great difficulties with her. It was during that time I decided that 15 was not an age but a disease and I was not sure whether we going to live through it. I was on the board of directors at the Tulsa Unity Church of Christianity and we were in the process of interviewing for a new minister. The church is shaped like a Hopi Hogan or not quite 1/2 of a wagon wheel. The only section of the sanctuary that does not have an overflow section behind it, is on the far right hand side. I was sitting on the very back row, so there was nothing behind me but an aisle and a wall. Now this was not a good time in my life and I am sure that my mind was wandering, although I was trying very hard to pay attention to this man who might become our new minister. The visiting minister was speaking about Peter and Jesus and how as long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus he could walk on the water, but as soon as he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink. At that exact moment I heard someone say out loud “It is hard to walk on water when you are up to your ass in waves”. I laughed out loud and turned to see who was behind me, only to realize that there was no one in physical body there and I was the only one that had heard the statement. In fact, people were looking at me to see what I thought was so funny. That statement became my mantra and no matter what was going on in my life since that day, I can usually see the humor in it by remembering that statement, and thus managing to keep my perspective on any given situation. The other time was after I had moved to SC and my son and I were traveling between Aiken and Columbia on a little two lane road. It was drizzling rain and I was driving about 50 miles per hour, when a man in a little white truck ran a stop sign and drove out directly in front of me doing around 35 mph. I hit the horn thinking he would speed up before I hit him, and instead he hit the breaks. Now I was driving an oversized high top van and could not stop it on a dime in perfectly dry weather, much less wet black top. I slammed on the breaks and the van spun around 180 degrees, hit the edge of the road and did a 90 degree turn back the other way. I could feel the van going up on two wheels, but I did not dare hit the breaks again or I knew we would flip over. It was just at that moment that I heard, clear as a bell, a voice yell from the back on the van, “Breaks”. I hit the breaks and as we slid off the road onto the grassy shoulder, it was like a giant hand steadied the shaking van and it settled down with two wheels on the pavement and two on the muddy shoulder. We were both very shaken up but alive, safe and the van was in tack. Both my son and I had heard the voice and knew that if I had not hit the breaks at exactly the right time, we would have turned over into the ditch. After getting out and checking the van, determining it was in perfect condition we continued out trip. Although I tried to catch up to the white pickup, the man and the white truck were no where to be found, which was probably a good thing as upset as I was. Clairsentience—the ability to “feel” (tactile), or sense what another being is feeling. Literally means “Clear Feeling” and refers to the ability to intuitively feel the emotions or physical feelings of another. Clairsentience is the ability to “feel” energy and non-physical matter. Empathy and clairsentience are strongly related. Some say clairsentience is an advanced form of empathy, but most empaths have trouble releasing what they sense, where a good clairsentient can “plug in” and feel from inside another’s body, while being able to “pull the plug” and totally release those energies. The ability to feel within your own body what another feels within his/her own body and is necessary if working as a medical intuitive. This sense is directly connected to the solar plexus chakra. Unlike stronger psychic faculties like clairvoyance or clairaudience, clairsentience is always turned on to a certain degree. It acts as the gut feeling telling you not to go home a certain way. You, not knowing the reason behind this feeling that is trying to drag you away from trouble, ignore your feeling and go that route anyway, only to be caught behind an accident and delayed for hours, or worse, end up being in the accident. Something that we all have probably experienced is gut feelings. Gut feelings have an emotional impression and follows physical sensations commonly felt in the solar plexus area. These types of feelings are clairsentience working in its latent stages. These gut feelings will draw your attention to something and then you will be overwhelmed with a strong physical sensation that will drive or compel you either towards the object or away from it. Claircognizance (clear-knowing) - having knowledge of certain situations/people/places without having any information to facilitate such knowing. This can be things of the past, present or future (premonitions). A common statement from people who are strong in this ability is, "I don't know how I know, I just know that I know." The psychic reception area for this sense is located on the top of the head (the Crown chakra). Clairvoyance—the ability to “see” beyond the physical. Literally means “clear seeing”. Either seeing pictures or movies within your own mind’s eye, or finding yourself inside of another and seeing what they see. This sense is connected to the “third eye” chakra. If you were to locate the center of your head from the front to back and then from the side to side, you would find two small organs called the pituitary body and the pineal gland. Medical science knows very little about them, and calls the pineal gland "the atrophied third eye," yet neither it nor the pituitary body is atrophying. This is very perplexing to scientists for Nature retains nothing useless. All over the body we find organs which are either atrophying or developing. The pituitary body and the pineal gland belong to still another class of organs, however, which at the present time are neither evolving nor degenerating, but are dormant. In order to regain contact with the inner worlds, it is necessary to establish the connection of the pineal gland and the pituitary body with the cerebrospinal nervous system, and to reawaken the pituitary body and the pineal gland. The result of this polarity consciousness has us thinking that we're inside a body looking out, somehow separated from what's out there. Mankind is evolving to a frequency where clairvoyance will be part of daily life. For many people this sense comes naturally - especially with children. All children are clairvoyant, at least during the first year of life. How long the child will keep its faculty depends upon its spirituality and also upon its environment, because most children communicate all they see, hear or perceive, to their elders and the faculty of clairvoyance is affected by the elder’s attitude. Often children are ridiculed for telling of things that, their elders believe, can only be the result of "imagination," and they soon learn to shut out scenes which bring provoke such ridicule, or at least learn to keep these things to themselves. For simplicity’s sake, I’ll call the two main forms of clairvoyant sight ‘physical’ and ‘non-physical’. Physical sight should not be confused with seeing something that is physically there, but rather having it appearing in usual surroundings, no matter how out of place it may be. A perfect if extreme example of this would be what the little boy saw in the movie, "The Sixth Sense" (which, incidentally, had a great deal of truth in it, despite Hollywood’s influence) who “saw dead people”. In this movie, the boy randomly saw the spirits of dead people appearing as solid as you or I. This is perhaps the most extravagant case of clairvoyance, and on the whole it is not so defined. Have you ever been convinced you have seen movement from the corner of your eye, then to have found nothing when you turn to face it? Most likely, you will have dismissed such happenings as imagination or nerves. Well, perhaps next time you should rethink that, given that the rods (outer sides) of our eyes are much more sensitive than the cones (center). We use just our cones whenever we look directly at something. We also have a very bad habit of turning our heads to see, rather than using our peripheral vision. The use of eyeglasses and the tunnel vision syndrome result, as well as the extended use of the cones in close work such as computers, has damaged them and made them less likely to pick up the finer details. The rods, on the other hand, are in much better condition, and will in essence, see more. A simple experiment to test the authenticity of this is to look up at the night sky. The stars will always appear brighter and sharper when we are not looking at them directly. Animals have more rods than cones where we have more cones than rods. The second form, the non-physical, is in my experience the most common. Often experienced as a picture in your mind’s eye, or as an image projected on the back of your eyelids (when your eyes are closed), it’s much harder to pin down, and therefore is often discounted as imagination by beginning clairvoyants. It is, however, every bit as valid as seeing things physically and in fact can often be more useful to an experienced clairvoyant as it’s usually accompanied by clairsentience. It takes a while to hone and trust this form, but for goodness sakes don’t discount it. This is generally the way in which you will “see” what an animal sees. One day, when my son was about 8 years, I walked into the room as he was moving his hands up and down—first one then the other, with the palms facing upwards. When I asked him what he was doing, he said “Look Mom, it’s a rainbow slinky, isn’t it great?” He was literally seeing and playing the energies moving between his two hands. When he was in high school, I worked at the University of Tulsa and he would often come in and help the computer students with their problems. They would bring him a print out of their program which he would read and then stare off into space. When asked what he was doing, He would suddenly stop and draw a circle around a certain spot on their paper. He would suddenly stop and draw a circle indicating where the program had formed a “loop” and why their program was not running properly. I have no idea how he did this, but he was always correct. Clairalience (clear-smelling) - smelling things that have no physical source. This is the ability to smell non-physical matter, energy or spirit presence through the sense of smell. Although this ability surfaces less often, some people get very clear smells and the knowledge that goes with it. This is very common in haunted areas, but can also be an indication that a deceased loved one with us (i.e. smells your mother's favorite flower suddenly while in a closed room during winter). It can be their way of contacting us, letting us know they're around. You may also find that you will smell what the animal smells while you are in contact with said animal. Clairhambience (clear-tasting) - tasting things without having eaten them. Is often found in collation of Clairalience, such as how an animal’s food taste. I have this happen often when I am scanning an animal physically. If I get a strong metallic taste, than I know the animal is toxic. One thing that I cannot stress enough with any psychic ability, we often get the "bad" along with the good. When we develop our psychic senses, we are open to receiving all kinds of information, and this can include premonitions of upcoming events. This can be difficult, especially when we sense a loved one's impending death or illness. Sometimes we can do something about these events, and sometimes we cannot. I wish I could offer more helpful advice about this, but all I can say is, "use your best judgment". I don't advise going around spouting off to people that they're going to die, even if that's what you're sensing. This will only frighten them and make them think you've lost your mind. Psychic ability is a big responsibility, and we have to use it as such. Year ago in Tulsa, I taught a class entitled Intuitive Development and one of the weekly exercises was to start each morning allowing your higher consciousness to show you a preview of the day. If they perceived anything, they were to write it down and then compare their notes that evening. One week a man came in saying, “Boy that stuff really works”. I asked if he would like to share what had happened and he told the following story. “Well I started my day just like you said, and I got this picture of the wheel coming off my truck, rolling down a hill and going through a plate glass window. And sure enough, about two hours later, just as I parked my truck downtown, I saw that wheel go past my truck and right through that window!” When I asked if he had used the premonition and checked his truck’s lug nuts or wheels, he responded, ”Hell, no, I wanted to see if it would really happen!” After some discussion as to the purpose of the exercise, someone else asked how we knew that he had foreseen what was going to happen rather than his mind making it happen. We could debate this all day, but I can only say, that I personally know of no person whose concentration on the sub-conscious level is that strong. I have heard of Yogi’s that can do this, but only after years of intense practice. I am not saying that we do now make things happen in our lives all day long, every day. What I am saying, is it takes a tremendous amount of concentrated energy to MAKE something like a wheel come off. (If you are interested in this ability, I would suggest you read Machaelle Small Wright’s “Behaving as if the God in All Life Mattered” When my son was in high school, he drove an old pickup truck. One day we had used it to go pick up the big wheel lawnmower from the shop. When my husband placed it in the back of the truck he put it with the handle aimed at the back window and jammed a screwdriver under one of the tires. I had a really bad feeling and suggested that he turn the mower so it sat across the bed rather than longwise. He laughed at me and said since the rear tires had such large grooves, it would be fine. We had not gone a block when he had to hit the breaks, the lawnmower lurched and then slowly rolled to the back of the truck and then forward striking the rear window. By this time the feeling was overwhelming and I again commented that he should stop and turn the mower. For the second time he laughed calling me a worry wart and drove on. A block later as he pulled away from a stop sign, the mower rolled to the rear of the truck, he was slowing down to turn a corner, when the handle of the mower came right through the window and hit us in the head with glass going everywhere. Of course, I had to say I had told him so and his response was “You made it happen, just so you could be right”. Now I am here to tell you, I WISH I had that kind of power, but no matter how hard I have tried, I have never managed that kind of feat. The biggest problem that I find with anyone trying communication for the first time is shutting down our minds (and mouths) so that we might learn to listen. One of the best ways to do this is pick a day – mark it on the calendar – this is your day of being quiet. That means you do not speak or make any verbal noise all day. You do not have to spend the day in meditation, but be in a day of appreciation of your body and the wonders of its working. Appreciate this universe, our planet and all the beings that reside here, the animals, fish and fowl, the plants, trees and the nature beings. Show respect by being in a day of quiet. Back when the earth was first created, our creator gave all of the earth beings the ability to communicate one with another with no species barriers. The original natives communicated with the plant kingdom and learned which plants worked with their human bodies for particular ailments and thus the medicine person was created. They communicated with the elementals and the shaman was created. In those times man did not eat meat, but lived happily on the nuts, berries and the grains that the earth provided. Much later when the earth suffered climatic changes, mankind’s entire thought processes changed from interaction to survival and thus in that need to survive he must eat whatever was readily available and that included the meat provided by the animals. Of course the animals in an effort to survive also returned the favor by eating humans as well as other animals. Somewhere in our distant past, humans lost the ability to communicate telepathically and started using a verbal language. I have often wondered since all languages seem to have the same core words, if this is what the story of the Tower of Babble represented, rather than the creation of many different verbal languages. Oh well, that discussion could be a whole newsletter by itself. Anyway, with the eating of flesh the physical bodies began to vibrate at a lower rate and became much more solid. The wild animals seemed to become of one mind or a group consciousness. They still had their own individual thoughts, but they also knew what the group, especially the leader, was thinking at all times. But mankind moved from this knowing to depending upon their outward senses and thus lost the ability of this inner contact. The Aborigines are the only ones I know of who still maintain this ability today. As animals become more domesticated, they seem to also become more individualized although they still have no problems communicating. I have always thought that it was most interesting how any two animals can have an open communication but remain enemies at the same time. There seems to be an unspoken rule stating that all animals may drink from the same water hole, but none may attack another during that time. It is a safe zone. There obviously is some kind of telepathic communication going on here. The word communicate starts with the root word to 'commune' which means 'to talk together, usually intensely and animatedly; interchange thoughts or feelings’ and that is exactly what interspecies communication is. During this commune, the world becomes timeless, I have abundant energy, I never tire, and everything just flows with seemingly little or no conscious intervention. My heart Chakra is wide open; I am energized, not half asleep. Now I will admit that if I do more than 4 or 5 one hour session in one day, I tend to get pretty spacey. Doing shows with 15 minute appointments where I may converse with several animals during each appointment time, I can be physically exhausted after the show. But during the communications, I am alive and energized. I think it is the staying “between” the worlds that tends to make the body tired afterwards. This can be easily related to a subject participating in hypnosis. Often when you are not allowed to “float” off, but must stay present enough to converse with the hypnotist. During a communication session, you are in the between world when conversing with not only the animal, but the animal’s person. This is how I encourage people to approach animal communication. It is vital to be alert and totally in the moment, able to respond immediately to whatever you feel, see or hear. Before your conscious mind starts analyzing and questioning and creating doubt. It is actually effortless and easy. "Okay, okay," I can hear many of you groaning and saying, "It is easy for you to say that." But it is TRUE. Trying too hard is a predominantly left-brain activity, along with analyzing, judging, categorizing and projecting - it is that well practiced and conditioned part of us that is often afraid of failure. What we want is a balance with right-brained openness and the trust that accompanies it. Work from your heart. If your radio is correctly tuned to a particular station, then the music or talk is there, as clear as a bell whether you choose to give it your attention or not. You can leave the room, answer the phone, hold a conversation, do some housework, etc. As long as your radio remains correctly tuned it will still be there, ready for you to listen to whenever you choose to listen or turn the switch on. It is that easy. However, if you don't tune the radio in well, there may be crackling noises, breaks in the reception and interference, meaning you have to try really hard to hear the music or talk over the static. It is an effort and you would soon give up and change the channel. It isn't that the sounds being transmitted from the station are unclear; they are there to be heard, if you can just tune in properly. When it comes to telepathy with animals, you are the radio receiver. All you have to do is find out how to tune in clearly, and it is all there for you to listen to. Now imagine two people trying to talk at the same time on a CB radio. This radio not only receives, but transmits as well but NOT at the same time. If you both try to push the button and speak at the same time—neither will be heard clearly. But this describes the way many of us are all the time. We tune ourselves in to listen, and then our own internal chatter begins. What a racket! All those thoughts, feelings, doubts, queries, judgments and so on are read loud and clear by an animal, and they cannot get a word in edgewise, so they give up and change the channel or “tune us out”. It is not always possible to completely cease all our mind traffic, but it is important to find a way to let it just flow through, without becoming attached to it. Don't allow it to sidetrack you. Emotional silence is the most important. If you flood an animal with an emotion, be it love, fear, anger, grief or sorrow, you are likely to receive back either your own emotions or your animal's response to it, which can be confusing to say the least. People who try to connect with their animal after it has passed to spirit often say to me "he/she seems so sad," and I will always encourage them to be clear whether that could be their own emotion they perceive, as so often it is. I have never found a soul, be it from an animal or human incarnation that is sad to be on the other side. They are pain free, whole, healthy and young. They are still very much in the present and still communicate with other animals in the household and are still in touch with us, even if we are not aware of their presence. You cannot become attached to the outcome of any said communication. Picture your very best friend, the person you can be completely open and honest with, the person who really knows YOU. That special someone who is the very person you want to be with and talk to when something is troubling you. Now ask yourself, what qualities does that person have? What is there about them that allow you to be yourself and to express yourself openly and honestly? How is it that they are always able to help you clarify things in your own mind? How do they do that? Of course trust is greatly important, but even beyond that, why is it that you can speak so freely to this person? Is it because of their attentiveness? Because when you are telling them your troubles you know they are REALLY listening, not pre-judging, or assuming they know what you are going to say? Or worse they are just waiting for you to be quiet so they can talk. Maybe they can even read between the words? Not adding their own, but truly using all their senses to really listen to the thoughts and feelings, the pictures, even the body language that all go to make up a conversation (remember, less than 10% of communication is verbal!). They are open and receptive and have no emotional investment in what you have to say. Your message doesn't have to pass through a filter of preconception and preoccupation, it reaches them in its purest form and they LISTEN. If you can emulate all of those qualities when communicating to your animal friends, not only will you be able to understand, but they will want to communicate! Be a clear receiver. I did belong to a group in Tulsa, where we would try to develop and strengthen our different physic abilities. We spent several weeks trying to move a feather or a balloon on a string, but that was with whole group energy, not just my own mind power, and the best we could do was a few inches. Sometimes people who are too open psychically can find crowded places extremely painful and uncomfortable. This especially applies to people who are strong in clairsentience, but it pertains to the other senses as well. In these situations, sensitives often feel bombarded with psychic impressions, emotions, thoughts and a flood of information from the people around them and even from the building they are in. There are many methods of reducing this psychic "noise". This is one of the many reasons that I rarely go to fairs, craft shows, flea markets or other crowded places. If you feel bombarded with unwanted information, focus on "closing" those areas to shut it out. . You could visualize a shield of protective energy covering them, blocking out unwanted impressions. You may not need to do this with ALL of the reception areas, especially if you're only strong in one or two psychic senses. If this applies to you, just focus on toning down those that you're strongest in. You can also visualize a big "pouch" of energy, like a sleeping bag. It can be any color you wish, whatever is most soothing to you. I usually use white, but that's my preference. Visualize yourself stepping into this pouch of energy, and pulling it up and around you. Pull it all the way over your head so you are completely encased in its protective warmth. Then "zip" it up, just like a sleeping bag. You are now encased in a shield of energy.

Animal Communication Stories

Judi always loved this story about Tank, and I wanted to share it with all of you. One that comes to mind right off is a communication I had with a lovely black lab named Tank. Tank's companion had recently crossed over and his people were concerned regarding whether they should get Tank a new companion. The communication went something like this: JB: Tank your people say that your companion recently crossed and they are concerned that you are lonely. Tank: They said I was going to get a new companion and we went somewhere to get one but we came home without one. Tank's people (TP): Oh my, we did try to adopt a yellow lab from the pound, but by the time we got there, it had already been adopted. We took Tank with us to let him decide if he liked the new dog, but we did not realize that he knew it. JB: So Tank does this mean that you would like a new companion? Tank: absolute, but I want to pick it out. TP: We will definitely look into getting him one the. We are not planning on it right now, but we would like to know how Tank feels about us having a human baby in the future. Tank: If they really feel like they need a companion then I guess it would be alright. We discussed the normal things such as food, playing in the park, etc., then they asked if there was anything else that Tank would like to say. Tank: Well yes, I do not understand the games they play. TP: What games? Tank: They play these games and then they get mad when I win. JB: What kind of games Tank? At this point Tank showed me the lady of the house placing a loaf of bread in the bread box and sliding it to the back of the cabinet top while saying "Now let's see you get that?" Tank: And then she got really mad when I did. Then he showed me the man placing a combination lock, one of those with the little buttons on it on the laundry room door and placing the trash inside while saying "I'll bet you can't get that open" and before he had left the room, Tank had the door open and had the trash. At this point I was literally laughing so hard I had tears pouring and so were his people. Tank thought it was great games and that he was very good at it, but the people had no idea that they were laying down the gauntlet and he was literally picking it up and not only taking on the challenge but gallantly winning. I must say they were wonderful about it and apologize to Tank swearing that they would be much more careful and not blame him for their mistakes. At the end of the conversation they again wanted to clarify that it would be okay with him if in the future they decided they needed a little companion they could get one, and he stated it would be fine so long as he got his first. They kept their word and a few weeks later they did get Tank a wonderful boisterous companion they named Lucky and what one did not think up getting into the other did. The last I heard they had decided that the two of them was quite enough and had put off starting the family of two legged's.

Body Detox Recipe Mix and Match

Copyright (c) 2009 John Khu Body Detox Tips http://www.bodydetoxtips.com/ Imagine a life that is free from the shameful pains of constipation. Imagine having a smooth, spotless, and glowing skin. Imagine having all the energy to finish a day's job and still be full of life at night. Imagine delicious blueberry oat muffins that melt in your tongue. The latter is just one body detox recipe that is not only nutritious but very beneficial as well. If all of the above is the result of a successful total body detox, then it is time everybody lets go of the old lifestyle and start living free. Besides, that one body detox recipe is just a teaser to other equally healthful and mouthwatering meals and drinks for body cleansing. Whoever said that detoxification is a nasty process just didn't get to the right information. Meanwhile, there are some basics to a body detox diet. They can be mixed and matched during a 28-day detox period to create variety. For the body's preparation, they can be set up in such a way that is effective but gradual: WHOLE GRAINS. Whole grains should be present in every meal plan. Take note that whole grain means unprocessed foods. The effect of whole grains in the body is to give it a feeling of fullness and help in the passage of foods in the digestive column. Whole grain can be in the form of bread, rice, pasta, cereals, bagels, tortillas, and crackers. MEAT. Meat should be in the diet only once a day at the most. Meat products such as wild game, chicken, and eggs are preferred. Red meat is to be minimized. The chicken should likewise be free-range and nourished with corn. Other free-range poultry products are included. FISH. Fish can be eaten once to twice a day. Avoid those with heavy metal content such as shark, swordfish, and king mackerel. They will only disturb your body detox system. Eat more of the salmon, sardines, and white fish. VEGETABLES. The more vegetables you eat, the better for you. So if you can have 4-10 servings in a day then the body is sure to appreciate it. Also, have variety of vegetable groups in each meal so you get to maximize different nutritional values and achieve a total body detox. The first group is composed of the green leafy vegetables such as watercress, lettuce, endive, kale, spinach, and chard. The second are called the root vegetables and they include potatoes, beet, radish, carrots, turnips, and mooli. Other valuable vegetables are broccoli, cauliflower, squash, green beans, leeks, celery, garlic, and onions. FRUITS. Just like vegetables, fruits can be eaten as many times during the day at 3 to 6 servings. Most fruits are natural body detox wonders. Apples, bananas, kiwi, papaya, watermelon, and sweet potato are also delicious. Avoid grapefruit though as it is said to contain an element that hold back the liver functions. BEVERAGES. Water will be the main superstar among the liquids. Eight to ten glasses of purified water is recommended daily. A lemon juice drink is likewise beneficial and should be taken an hour before breakfast. Other equally nutritious beverages include herbal tea, vegetable juice, and diluted fruit juice. ---------------------------------------------------------- John Khu is a health enthusiast and author of a new eBook titled "Body Detox Tips".
